catch up

I just re read my last post to see where I left of and I have to publicly say sorry for my bad spelling and grammar my god how did you understand what I was saying?

I do have one major correction ...... We did not go see hookers I repeat we did not see hookers. What I meant to say was that we went to HOOTERS because they have good food, which is hard to find in the states.

Anyway, when I last wrote I'd just arrived at Kats house. While we were there we eat so well thanks to Kara who is an amazing cook and Rick/Kat how knew where to buy actual food, which America enjoys hiding from visitors and residents alike.

We saw heaps of Amish, in buggies, went to a store/greenhouse they had and asked Kat and her family a million questions about them.

Jeremy and I were taken to Gettysburg which was amazing, it stretches for miles and the battle fields are covered in mustard plants with bright yellow flowers. Without over stating it there would have been over a hundred monuments possible more. Rick was a great tour guide giving us a brief overall summary of each battle field. Definitely not the Brian tour (which he kept on telling us)

Next came the fabric sale. Kat was like a kid in a candy store. I think she got some really nice pieces so that will keep her out of trouble for awhile at least.

We were also luckily enough to be invited to the famous girls night out. For those of you that don't know Kats Dad every Wednesday since time begin has taken Kat and her sister Kara out to the mall for dinner and a movie. The idea is to give Mum a night off. This was a really nice evening and it was great to see how well Kat and her sister get on with their Dad.

I believe the next day we went to Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh I have to say is under rated and if you get a chance to go there you should take it. The buildings, the museum and conservatory amazing, it had some of that magic Lyttleton has but bigger with more culture.

Its getting hard to remember everything we did in P.A but let me just say it was prefect timing on our trip. It was nice being with a family before setting off on our own again.

We left the bushman household early on Sunday morning as Kat, Kara and Élan (not sure of spelling) were going to Church. Rick was taking us to Washington D.C for a quick driving tour of the monuments before dropping us at the Train Station where we were bound for NEW YORK.

The train trip was quick only 4 hours. Union Station was right under Madison Square Gardens for Jeremy made me walk 15 blocks with all my gear that weighs more then his I'll have you know at 8pm down a busy New York Street. I was tried and smelly by the time we got tot the Edison Hotel. The next day we got up early to walk to a circuit city because Jeremy decided to return his laptop he bought only 3 days earlier. Along the way we walked through Central Park which is a must see. We wanted to go back and do some drawing there but never got around to it. On our final full day we went to see the Statue of Liberty and ground zero. It was a really hot day so we stopped at a Irish pub for a beer. Bad idea we were so dehydrated that it went straight to our heads. It put us almost to sleep, we had to stop every ten minutes on the way back to the train to have a rest. The fresh air soon cleared our heads and the walk got easier.

That night our last night we went out to a nice chinese restaurant. they put the tables really close together so you can hear everything the people next to you are saying. I almost burst out laughing at this one couple. We only heard parts of the conversation but I'm we decided that the woman was the guys mistress from Chicago and he was trying to tell her to movie to New York and he was talking about what his next marriage will be like but he was still wearing a wedding ring ( can you say what the fuck). back at the hotel Brave Heart was on so we watched that and talked about everything that had happened in the month we'd been travelling.

After Breakfast and re packing we checked out and did the mission to the airport. We got to the subway and realised that this was harder than it looked on the map. Luckly we asked a guy standing around what train wentto the airport and he was like follow me I'm going most of the way there. Turns out we need to get a train then a bus to make it to the airpport. The guy that helped us was a plumber, Jeremy was trying to convince him to move to NZ while his Mrs' phoned every 10mins asking for his pin number. We were totally the entertainment on the bus, people kept asking us all kinds of questions. In short New Yorkers are nice people, trust me on this

At the airport we need to get a shuttle to our terminal. Jeremy said run as the shuttle (which was a mono rail) was leaving I ran I was right behind Jeremy but the doors were about to close so I stopped Jeremy pushed his way on as the doors closed behind him and turn to see I was still out side as the train left. I could have killed him. It wasn't a big deal the train goes every 2 mins but who does that??????

Just before boarding we find out that Jeremy could entry the U.K so that was a bonus. We were flying british airways (don't do it Qantas is so much better you'll thank me for it) it was so cramped I was cramped and I don't need leg room. I was almost sick after dinner, it was the worst flight of my life. We meet a 19yr old American Adam on his way to Germany with a one night stop over in London so we said we'd help him on the tube when we landed.

At the airport I was surprised to see Shaun and aneira there to meet us. They were surprised to see Jeremy and Adam as they thought it would just be me.

Thats all for now, I'll write about London tonight. just a few short messages

I have a job, its only for 4 weeks at this stage but who knows it could be more, but atthe very least its U.K experience

I heart London

and photos can of my trip can be viewed here http://www.flickr.com/photos/21463008@N02/ i still need to describe them but they are all in sets well mostly in sets
